This project approached the bong as an object worth leaving on display. The brief was to create a functional smoking piece with the presence of a sculptural ceramic vessel, moving away from familiar bong silhouettes towards a form that could sit comfortably among other objects in the home.

The slipcast ceramic body follows a continuous J-shaped curve, turning back on itself to create an unexpected silhouette. Its form gives little away about its purpose at first glance, inviting appreciation of its proportions and material before its function becomes apparent. The design brings together the practical requirements of a water pipe with a quieter, more considered visual presence.
