BARCELONA BAR

During three weeks exploring Barcelona, I documented the city through drawings of visual details that felt distinctly local. These observations became the starting point for a bar and spirits table, translating the character of the city into a piece of furniture under two strict constraints: one 4 × 8 ft sheet of plywood and one day for construction.

I compiled and categorised the drawings, looking for recurring forms and connections to the city’s social life before developing the table through models. The material allowance and construction window shaped the design alongside those observations: each component had to justify its share of the sheet, and the assembly had to be achievable within a day. The project brought visual research, material economy and practical fabrication into the same design process.
